Visiting LA Like A Local
We get it– you want to travel to a new town but you don’t want to feel like a tourist. This is totally do-able in a city like LA! Read on for the best food, shopping & more. [All photos are taken from each company’s IG account unless noted otherwise].
Locals love Sugarfish! So much, in fact, that there are 10 locations to check out. Beware of long wait times, but don’t let the line turn you away because it’s totally worth it! Tip: trust the chef (it’s an option on the menu).
LA is huge. So big, in fact, that I would feel awful just picking one location for you to shop at. So, if you’re near the beach, check out Planet Blue in Santa Monica or maybe even Katwalk in Manhattan Beach. On your way back thru the Malibu canyons, stop off in Thousand Oaks to check out Rebel Violet. Luckily, all the above carry Unpublished denim! [Photo via @mindyplaz in @unpublished]
Skip the crowds at The Broad & LACMA (ok, not really– those museums are fantastic and you’ll have fun but this is a local’s guide, right 😜) and check out one of the many corky museums LA has to offer. My personal favorite is Velveteria, The Museum of Velvet Paintings. You’re welcome. Enjoy.
I’m sure you’ve seen thousands of the same photos taken by your favorite bloggers posted up at Runyon Canyon. This hike is for sure an experience, and once I even saw Justin Bieber while on the trail, but locals typically stick to the Griffith Park. The view is one and the same, with the Hollywood sign beautifully nestled in the neighboring hills. However, the winning factor is that the trails are typically less crowded– probably because there are so many trails to get lost on! Just keep wandering, you might even end up at Griffith Observatory. [Photo via: @lucasmartins].
This hidden gem is located right behind the huge Hollywood/Highland shopping center and next door to The Magic Castle. I know, how can you hide in such a popular hub?! That’s the beauty of this unique restaurant. Uber up the hill (or pay $10 for valet parking) and take in the view! Stay for dinner or simply grab a cocktail while looking out at the entire city. It’s a great vibe.
