Tell us about yourself. Where are you from, where do you live now, what do you do for a living?
I’m a California Native, born and raised in Santa Monica and I currently live in Venice Beach. My dad is from Brooklyn so I also grew up part-time in NY which I consider my other home. I own my own line called Lady Dandelion, which is basically the lifestyle brand of my dreams. Its a collection of clothing, jewelry, home products, and other accessories that I am obsessed with.
What does your typical workday look like and what are the biggest challenges you face?
Well right now I work out of my home office and it is pretty chaotic. I’m currently searching for a separate office now that things are growing. But for the time being, my days are a little crazy because I have a toddler and big, energetic puppy dog, and my fiance also works from home part-time. So we are pretty cozy in here. Let’s just say I get interrupted a lot!
How do you stay motivated? What are some tips or tricks you’ve learned along the way?
Being a mom is the greatest motivator I’ve ever had. Suddenly once my daughter Lulu was born, the glamor of being an artist and roughing it lost all its sparkle. Now I seek comfort, safety, stability….all the things that I used to think were a boring waste of time. So as much as I'm still a risk-taker and an adventurer at heart, I’m also super determined to get things done efficiently and successfully more so now than ever before in my life. There aren’t really any tricks to this. It takes a shit-ton of hard work and perseverance through constant obstacles.
What advice do you have for someone thinking of launching a creative business?
Make sure it’s something you really love that speaks to your soul. When things get really tough and you want to give up, I stay focused on the bigger purpose and soulfulness of my business. That’s what carries me through.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years, on a personal and professional level?
I imagine that in 5 years, Lulu may have a younger sibling. Hopefully, we’ll have moved into a bigger house :) Professionally I see my having my own brick and mortar store where I can provide the true experience behind the brand and bring the community together in a fun and inspiring way. Publishing a book is also high on my goals list this year. So hopefully that will be complete. I don’t want to give too much away on what it’s about so you’ll have to wait and see…
How would you describe your personal style?
I’d say its eclectic combinations of eras past mixed with all things modern and new. I love vintage. In fact aside from my own line, that’s pretty much all I wear. My style is definitely playful and youthful. I have a young spirit and love all things pure and fresh. I think that comes through. And finally, it’s very ‘California Girl’. I can’t help it. The beach is my greatest inspiration in every way.
What role does denim play in your wardrobe? What do you look for in the perfect pair of jeans?
I absolutely adore denim. It gets mixed into almost every outfit either on top or bottom. I look for comfort, fit, and flair.
What’s your skincare or beauty routine like? What are your top 5 products?
I like minimal. I’m also a sucker for something that smells good. Gentle and all-natural only. My current favorites are:
Jasmine Garden Botanical Facial Mist by May Lindenstorm
Nano Gold Energizing Eye Serum by Chantecalle3
Atmosphere Protection Cream by Osea
Rose Lip Balm by Terry
Jojoba Hair Oil by La Tierra Sagrada
We’re obsessed with podcasts. Do you listen? What are some favorites?
