This girl’s got flair!
In a short amount of time, you’ve built up quite a resume, from starring in a new Amazon Series to being the face of an Adidas campaign. Why do you think brands are gravitating towards you?
My brand is different and diverse. I identify with a very fluid, barrier-breaking, and soft approach. There’s a lot of opportunities to shift the current perspective and I’m doing that by wearing my story on my sleeve! I’m excited that brands are taking notice and embracing individuality and diversity. This is a really empowering time and I encourage people to embrace their originality.
You’re entering an industry as it is going through a historical movement based around sexual assault. Do you feel hopeful for the future of the entertainment industry and your role within it?
I feel extremely hopeful for the future and beyond excited to utilize the platform I build every day. I hope my past experiences, industry knowledge, and compassion can be stepping stones for our future youth. #timesup! #thenewnow
How important is fashion to you in regard to self-expression?
Fashion has always been one of my outlets for self-expression, especially growing up in Texas! My parents had their fun with Sunday school dresses, pink bows, and red ropers. Once I became a little older to start self-expressing dresses turned into jorts (jean shorts) bows to backward hats, but the red ropers stayed! Fashion is powerful! It can give us confidence and insight all at the same time. My style is influenced by expression rather than gender. Fashion enables everyone to embrace their originality. Fashion also enables us to identify where we can improve, especially in the case of gender norm restrictions. Just remember - your originality can start a revolution and I encourage people to wear what makes them happy!
What is your go-to denim style?
I absolutely love that distressed denim look, always have! I grew up on a farm in Abilene, Texas. New Jeans didn’t stand a chance with me, I would have three new holes in my pants before lunchtime. Dusty butts, holey knees, and sun-kissed denim-the perfect go-to denim style for me.
At what point did you realize you wanted to work professionally in a creative role?
The moment I let my career as an athlete go I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Besides acting & modeling, what else are you passionate about?
Extremely passionate about networking! I love showcasing flair in the arts, entertainment, and innovation in women. Girls With Flair! has truly been a dream come true, just like my acting and modeling career. Bridging the gap from point A to C for women in the industry has always been the driving force behind my every move. The B in the “A to C” has always been bullshit, harassment, or petty power, NOT ANYMORE!
Fast forward 5 years in the future, where do you see yourself?
Filming in other countries, writing and directing my own projects, growth within my personal journeys and building my own family. A household name and brand!
